Oil and natural gas produced on state trust lands continues to be an extremely important source of revenue for the trust beneficiaries.
Seismic surveys have become an essential tool for industry in exploration of new fields and in the redevelopment of older fields. The volume of seismic activity on state trust lands is a valid indicator of industry health and optimism and the number of acres under seismic permits per year track very well with the bonuses and acreage value for oil and gas leasing.
