Emergency Environmental Incident

If this is an emergency posing an immediate threat to human health and safety, please dial 911.

If you need immediate assistance with an environmental emergency:

    1. For active releases/spills, please first call the New Mexico Environment Department’s 24/7 environmental emergency number 505-827-9329.
    2. For other emergency incidents or after a release has been reported to NMED, call the NMSLO 24/7 emergency environmental incident number: 505-827-5894. This number should be used in instances where you need immediate authorization by NMSLO to take certain actions or obtain land access, or to notify the agency of significant events such as fires, bodily harm, and large releases after first responders have been contacted.
    3. Once the initial emergency has been reported please use the incident report form below to provide any additional information regarding the event.
    4. Operators should file all required paperwork with the appropriate regulatory agency and copy NMSLO using this email: spills@slo.state.nm.us or submit the information through the incident reporting form below.
