Dr. Heather Miller
Beneficiaries
Dr. Heather Miller is a proud New Mexican, born and raised in southern NM. Both of her parents are veterans brought here by the military. They fell in love with the beauty of the state and settled in the area to raise their children. Dr. Miller has dedicated herself to the service of students with disabilities and has worked as special education teacher and administrator for 16 years. Dr. Miller obtained her undergraduate degree from UNM, holds multiple graduate degrees, and completed her Doctorate in June 2021. Both her education and career choices are driven by a desire to improve the educational outcomes of students in NM. She currently serves as the Special Education Director for the NM School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Outside of her career, Dr. Miller owns and operates a livestock boarding facility, which has provided her the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the agriculture in the state. As an employee of NMSBVI, Dr. Miller will serve on the State Land Trusts Advisory Board as a beneficiary member and will work to provide insight on the benefits and impact of the state land trust funding provided to education facilities.
Dr. Miller’s term on the board began on January 1, 2023 and will end on December 31, 2028.
