The State Land Office is seeking proposals for affordable housing or other economic development projects on several parcels in Albuquerque.

The office opened a request for interest Thursday. Proposals are due the evening of July 6.

“We are taking a novel approach to finding the right partners to develop state lands in Albuquerque,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Stephanie Garcia Richard in a statement. “We want developers with the right priorities, who will meaningfully consider the needs of the local community. That’s why we are seeking affordable housing options.”

The four parcels are across the city, with one west of the Rio Grande, another near Kirtland Air Force Base, one near the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and the last near Expo New Mexico.

The State Land Office previously worked with a developer and the city to build affordable housing for senior citizens on state lands in the southeast of Albuquerque.
