Rights-of-Way Section
The Rights-of-Way Section administers active rights-of-way easements, right-of-entry permits, outfitting/guiding permits, water easements, water rights agreements, water exploration and development easements, and archaeological surveys.
During the past five years, the section has more than doubled the number of educational easements issued to schools that use state trust land for outdoor instruction.
The section is working with the oil and gas industry to develop and implement guidelines and procedures to address emergency situations. The procedures involve granting right-of-entry permits and temporary surface pipelines. The new guidelines have resulted in increased efficiency in transactions between the State Land Office and industry when circumstances warrant.
