Public Fuel Wood Program
High energy costs are freezing out many New Mexico families so every September through December the Land Office issues free firewood permits. Individuals are permitted to cut up to five cords of small diameter and dead and downed pinon and juniper wood.
Since the program's inception, 8,175 permits have been issued.
