Patrick L. Padilla
Prior to his appointment at the State Land Office, Patrick headed a small, privately-held oil exploration and production company with an operation base in New Mexico's San Juan Basin. Patrick oversaw field operations, land work, regulatory compliance, future development projects and crude oil marketing on a day-to-day basis, and spearheaded an innovative drilling program aimed at shallow horizontal development of mature oil fields. His previous work in the hydrocarbon industry includes the development of oil and gas exploration projects on federal and state lands in New Mexico, Texas, Utah and Nevada.
In addition to Patrick's energy sector work, his professional experience included numerous private sector, governmental and IGO executive and project management positions in the United States, Japan, Australia and Spain.
Patrick is a native of Santa Fe and is thrilled to be able to add his diverse experience to the talented pool of professionals at the State Land Office and work on behalf of the trust beneficiaries. His free time is generally spent cooking, mountain biking or welding. He is also a Certified Sommelier as determined by the Court of Master Sommeliers.
He serves as Commissioner Dunn's representative to both the Oil Conservation Commission, which has a major role in setting oil and gas policy for the state, and the New Mexico Mining Commission, which does the same for hard rock minerals.
