Michael D. Anaya - Assistant Commissioner for Surface Resources

Michael D. Anaya has served as Santa Fe County commissioner representing District III from 2003-2006 and 2007-2010 and served as Santa Fe County Commission chair in 2005 and 2009. He first started in public service as president of the Galisteo Community Association in his hometown, where he was also a volunteer firefighter.
As county commissioner, Anaya served on the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO); National Association of Counties (NACo) Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee; NACo’s Rural Action Caucus; the Santa Fe County Investment Committee; Partners for a Clean New Mexico; Charter Bank Advisory Board; and Leadership New Mexico.
Anaya is also an honorary commander for the New Mexico National Guard, an honor presented by Maj. Gen. Kenny Montoya to recognize and honor outstanding New Mexican citizens and civilian leaders for their service to the community and state.
