John A. Romero, DVM - Assistant Commissioner, Field Operations
John Romero is a native of Santa Fe and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from New Mexico State University and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Tufts University. Romero has worked in public and private practice for the last 25 years and has served in state and local government management for over ten years.
Romero is a board member of Las Campanas Compadres, an organization that provides opportunities for people with disabilities. He is also a board member of Assistance Dogs of the West, which provides trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities to increase their independence. Romero also served as chairman of the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine.
