Can I buy state land or propose a land exchange?
The New Mexico State Land Office is not selling state trust lands and Commissioner Ray Powell has imposed a Moratorium on Land Exchanges. Commissioner Powell believes the trust is best served by leasing these lands, thereby retaining the corpus of the trust for schools and other public institutions. The Land Exchange Moratorium is part of an overall review of internal policies and procedures at the State Land Office.
How do I locate acreage that is available to lease for livestock grazing?
Can my Agricultural Lease fee be reduced due to drought or non-use?
Currently, the State Land Office has not implemented a drought reduction for agricultural leasing.

How do I transfer or assign my Agricultural Lease?
The Agricultural Lease Assignment Form may be found in the Agricultural Leasing Forms. Click on the link to go to our forms Menu and click on Agricultural Lease Assignment. The completed form needs to be submitted to the State Land Office for the Commissioner's approval.
