Elaine Olah, Assistant Commissioner for Administrative Services

Elaine Olah comes to the State Land Office after a 30-plus year career in state government. She earned a Masters of Business Administration from New Mexico Highlands University.
She has held several positions in state government, working her way up the career ladder. The first rung was a bookkeeper position with the Northern New Mexico Rehabilitation Center in Las Vegas, N.M. After several financial positions in the Health and Environment departments and Energy Mineral & Natural Resources State Parks Division, she joined the ranks of exempt employees. She accepted a position with the State Auditor, first to coordinate training and administration and then as deputy state auditor. Serving as the State Auditor's representative on the Commission of Public Records lead to her appointment as the director of the Commission of Public Records. After six months with the State Treasurer’s Office. Olah was appointed deputy state treasurer, later accepting a position as the director of Human Services for the Administrative Services Division. After the change in elected offices, Commissioner Powell selected Olah to serve as the assistant commissioner for Administrative Services.
In her assistant commissioner role, Olah is the chief financial officer overseeing the budget and accounting functions for the State Land Office. This includes revenue collections and distributions; payment for goods and services to support the agency’s responsibilities; and preparation of financial statements and reports. Other areas of responsibility include the office of Human Resources, Information Technology, and Records Management.
Olah is a member of the Association of Government Accountants and the Government Finance Officers Association.
